Arsalan Tariq has been named Partner at BSA Al Rashdi & Al Barwani Advocates and legal consultants.

Practicing since 2009, Arsalan specializes in Islamic and conventional finance, bilateral and syndicated project finance, acquisition finance, Islamic product development, cross-border financing and financial restructuring.

Arsalan will continue working from BSA’s DIFC office in Dubai, attending events and conferences in the GCC and across the globe before moving to the firm’s Muscat office in August 2020.

Arsalan has demonstrated himself to be an exceptional and versatile corporate lawyer with extensive and varied experience across Islamic and conventional finance, foreign direct investment, private equity, real estate and hospitality along with the experience he brings from working with an oil and gas company’ said Abdulaziz Alrashdi, Partner.

Arsalan is a barrister-at-law and has been called to the bar of England and Wales at Lincolns Inn, UK. He also holds an LLB from the University of London, UK and completed his Bar Vocation Training Course at City University in London (formerly Inns of Court School of Law).

Robert Mitchley has been promoted to Senior Associate. Robert is based in BSA’s Dubai office and specializes in Corporate, M&A and Real Estate and has right of appearance in the DIFC Courts.

He advises clients in relation to real estate, corporate and commercial law. He has extensive experience in drafting commercial contracts and structuring business transactions with a particular focus on joint ventures, sales of shares, commercial agencies and private equity. He also advises on conveyancing of real estate and property development.

He was admitted to practice as an Attorney in the High Court of South Africa in 1998. Prior to relocating to Dubai, he practiced in a commercial and real estate law firm in Durban, South Africa.

Additions

Jonathan Brown joins BSA as Of Counsel in Dubai. Jonathan is a qualified Solicitor (England and Wales) with over 25 years’ experience split between private practice and in-house work. He advises on contentious and non-contentious matters. Jonathan is highly regarded for his representation of clients in international commercial arbitration and litigation as well as alternative dispute resolution forums. Jonathan joins us from Charles Russell Speechlys LLP, where he was a leading dispute resolution partner for their Dubai office.

Al Sanhori Al Sheikh joins BSA as a Senior Associate in the Litigation practice in Muscat. With over thirty years of experience in litigation and arbitration matters, he has worked in many reputed law firms within the Sudan and the Sultanate of Oman as well as working for his own office, where he acquired extensive experience in different fields of law. He has extensive experience in commercial, criminal, insurance, labor, banking and civil, administrative and criminal disputes and has appeared before the primary, the appellate and the Supreme Courts in Sudan, and before the appellate and Supreme Courts within the Sultanate of Oman.

Helen Keeley joins BSA as a Senior Associate in our Insurance practice in Dubai. She is admitted as an attorney in the courts of South Africa. She has varied experience in providing legal advice in the following areas: Contract; Delict; Insurance & Pension Funds; Property; Persons & Family; Consumer Issues; Estates & Succession; Wills; Labour Law; Criminal Law; Attorneys & Litigation; Neighbour Disputes; Venture Law; Government related issues; Legal Expenses and Taxation of Bills of Cost.

Felicity Hammond joins BSA as an Associate in the Intellectual Property practice in Dubai. Felicity has been working in the Middle East since 2016 and has advised clients on a range of contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters, including trademarks, designs, patents and copyright. Felicity has been part of creating portfolio and brand enforcement strategies for a range of high-profile clients, both locally and internationally, and has experience in the co-ordination of multi-jurisdictional actions. Ms Hammond obtained her LLB degree in Law from the University of Liverpool.

Nadia El Tannir joins BSA as an Associate in the Insurance practice in Dubai focusing on all aspects of corporate law. Before joining BSA, she had provided a wide range of clients with legal assistance and opinions on several matters and queries mainly relating to commercial, civil, insurance, employment, consumer protection and taxation laws. She was admitted to the Beirut Bar Association in February 2016 and holds an LLB in Private Law as well as an LLM in Business Law, both from Saint Joseph University of Beirut, Lebanon.
